How Almost Heaven Homesteading Got Started

I would say we started our homestead when we got married. But if you’ve been following the journey, you might be wondering how that’s possible. Afterall, we lived in a suburban apartment for the first nine months of our marriage before moving to our land.

Well, for us homesteading is more than owning land and chickens and growing vegetables. Sure, that’s the goal! But here at almost heaven homesteading, to us it’s a mindset! It’s an ever evolving goal of building a life where we are learning skills, becoming more self-reliant, taking care of our land and environment, and nourishing our bodies, minds, souls.

You can absolutely start your homesteading journey wherever you are. Homesteading is so much more than just a checklist of owning and growing the right things!

What Are Our Main Goals

Here at almost heaven homesteading, we believe there is a little bit of the past beckoning every individual while simultaneously integrating the future!

We believe in a life where tables are filled with a wholesome abundance that was generously afforded by the land God so graciously allowed us to cultivate.

We believe in an ever evolving skill set that allows us to become more self-sufficient and to prosper by the work of our hands.

And we believe in filling our homes, minds, and hearts with a rich array of handcrafted goods that we can know is something more special than an assembly line piece of furniture from a big box store.

Kind of sounds like the way our ancestors lived right! But the key to success is not in the past. The key to success is knowing that God has placed us here for such a time as this!

But what is success? Here at almost heaven homesteading, we believe that success is in the legacy you leave. While our goal is to live a wholesome, self-sufficient, and handcrafted life, we also believe that these values go hand in hand with the goal of leaving our children and grandchildren a legacy of understanding the things that really matter… Like… working hard for what you have, loving your family well by making quality time to spend with them, and honoring God – the one who affords every good gift.
